Henriette Schellenberg

Canadian soprano Henriette Schellenberg is recognized as "among the finest oratorio singers" enjoying an international career working with renowned conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Seiji Ozawa, Agnes Grossman, Robert Shaw, Mario Bernardi, Zubin Mehta, Helmuth Rilling, Jahja Ling, Yoel Levi and Jésus Lopez-Cobos. Presented by the major orchestras throughout North America she has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, St Luke's Orchestra and the Montreal Symphony. Ms Schellenberg's distinguished career includes memorable performances of Strauss' Four Last Songs with the Strasbourg Philharmonic in France and Germany, the Poulenc Gloria with Robert Shaw, Mendelssohn's Elijah with the Atlanta Symphony, a European tour with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem and Haydn's Creation with Rilling.

Her 1999-2000 season features her in multiple performances of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony on tour in Quebec, Handel's Messiah in Montreal with Agnes Grossman and in Kitchener with the Kitchener Waterloo Philharmonic Choir, Bach's Mass in B Minor with Tafelmusik, Mozart's Mass in C Minor at the Winter Park Bach Festival, the Penderecki Credo with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and Handel's Messiah with Pro Coro. Her summer activities include the Orford Festival, Calgary Bach Festival and a workshop and recital at the ISME Conference. In 2000-2001 she will make her debut with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

In the 1998-99 season she appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony, St Louis Symphony, and gave performances in Frankfurt and Wurzburg, Germany and on tour in China. She sang Bach's St Matthew Passion in Edmonton, Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem in Calgary, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis in Florida, Handel's Messiah in Toronto and was the featured soloist at the Closing Ceremonies of the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg.

Highlights of past seasons include Mozart's Mass in C Minor at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton, Mendelssohn's Elijah in Edmonton, Bach's St Matthew Passion in Florida, Mahler's Second Symphony in Montreal, Orff's Carmina Burana with the Quebec Symphony, and the St John Passion with Tafelmusik.

Her discography includes works with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Bach Choir of Bethlehem (Wachet Auf, Dorian), the New England Bach Festival, the CBC Vancouver Orchestra, St Luke's Orchestra, the St Lawrence Choir, Britten's Les Illuminations with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra which received a Juno nomination for CBC Records, and a Clara Schumann CD with Irmgard Baerg also for CBC Records.
